Rock in Rio kicks off the 2026 edition at invitation-only event

A presentation by Roberta Medina, executive vice president of Rock World, got things started on Wednesday afternoon (2) at the Rock in Rio Preview, a test event for the 11th edition of the festival. The daughter of advertising executive Roberto Medina briefly showed the press and guests what the event plans to present starting this Friday, September 4, at the City of Rock, in the West Zone of Rio.

Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere was present as a partner of the festival, alongside other guests. Rock in Rio was inaugurated in 1985 in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro, and this will be its 11th edition.

According to the screen presented at the event, the festival expects to receive 130,000 people on the immense 385,000 square kilometer terrain. The 2026 edition promises to be another historic celebration of rock and music in the state capital.

See prices and some food and drink options at Rock in Rio 2026

The test event for Rock in Rio 2026, held on Wednesday, revealed food and beverage prices for the festival, ranging from R$10 to approximately R$60-R$70 for combos. All payments must be made exclusively digitally, via PIX or credit and debit cards. The festival offers the option of advance purchase through the official app, allowing the public to avoid lines and speed up service on the day of the event. When purchasing drinks, the public receives a reusable cup that can be exchanged for other purchases at the City of Rock. To purchase in advance, simply access the app, select the corresponding option, choose the consumption day and complete the payment.

New world stage with LED at Rock in Rio will be assembled by artists and bands

Rock in Rio 2026 will bring a major innovation to the Mundo Stage, which will be entirely made of LED, following trends from international festivals like Coachella and tours by major artists like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. The space will be 104 meters long and 31.05 meters high, with approximately 2,400m² of LED screens. The novelty will allow each artist or band to set up the LED stage design however they want, providing a fully immersive experience for the audience. According to Roberta Medina, vice president of Rock World, the technology will enable the mixing of talent and creativity, with each artist using the technology to their advantage.
