'The feminine experience spans centuries': Emma M. Lion's Diaries arrive in Brazil

The first two volumes of "Emma M. Lion's Diaries," written by American author Beth Brower, arrive in Brazil this Wednesday through Intrínseca publishing house. The work presents a style reminiscent of Jane Austen and sharp humor, proposing a different formula for historical romance readers.

The story follows Emma Lion, a 20-year-old young woman who, in 1883, arrives in London during the Victorian era to claim what is rightfully hers: Lapis Lazuli House. In her diary, she records her most sincere thoughts while trying to gain independence in a society that imposed very concrete limits on women's choices.

Beth Brower explained in an interview with CBN that she began the writing process as a diary after realizing the character needed a more intimate narrative. At thirteen years old, after becoming orphaned, Emma had already defined her principles, declaring that she did not want to sew cushions all day long, nor just dance and sing. The feminine experience spans centuries in the work.
