The municipalities of Nelas, Mangualde, Fornos de Algodres and Gouveia today presented the tourism project "Expresso do Alto Mondego", which aims to boost the central region of the country through train routes. Nelas and Mangualde belong to the district of Viseu, while Fornos de Algodres and Gouveia are in the district of Guarda.
The project involves CP – Comboios de Portugal and private operators, in a partnership that aims to offer differentiated tourism experiences in the Alto Mondego region. The total planned investment is 500 thousand euros.
The four municipalities are united by the common goal of promoting the natural and cultural heritage of the region, attracting visitors through a tourism offer that combines rail transport with local experiences. The "Expresso do Alto Mondego" represents an integrated tourism development strategy between the two neighboring districts.
