Chega motion catches Parliament on holiday and forces Aguiar-Branco to summon leaders this Thursday

The Chega party presented a motion that forced the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, to summon party leaders this Thursday. The situation occurs during Parliament's holiday period.

Aguiar-Branco is currently in the Azores and intends to establish the counting of deadlines related to the motion. The central question is whether the 230 deputies should be called in emergency to debate the matter or if the debate should wait for the formal reopening of Parliament.

The formal reopening of the Assembly of the Republic is scheduled for September 15, which creates an alternative to the emergency call of parliamentarians during the holiday period.
