New ARDITI research vessel enters testing phase after construction completion

SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 18:52

The new ARDITI research vessel completed construction on August 28, 2026. This milestone represents an important step for the institution in the area of ocean research.

The vessel is financed by investment C10-i06 RAM - Ocean Technologies, integrated in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). This financing allows ARDITI to reinforce its research capabilities in the ocean domain.

Following construction completion, compliance tests will now be carried out on the vessel. These tests are necessary to ensure that all specifications and requirements have been met.

Only after approval of the compliance tests will it be possible to proceed with the final delivery and acceptance of the vessel by ARDITI.

Earth approaches surpassing 1.5°C of warming: the UN assures it is still possible to reverse it

The average temperature of the planet is approaching the 1.5°C warming limit relative to the pre-industrial era, established by the Paris Agreement. The UN recognizes that temporarily exceeding this threshold will become increasingly likely, but states that there is still a possibility to subsequently reduce the temperature; for this, it would be necessary to accelerate emission cuts, achieve negative net emissions, and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
