This position was debated during an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the 27 Member States of the European bloc. The meeting took place in Wicklow, Ireland, and served as a venue for this discussion on the visa policy for Russian citizens.
The proposal to restrict tourist visas comes in a context of growing pressure on European countries to adopt firmer measures in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Estonia, which shares a border with Russia, has been particularly active in advocating for restrictive measures.
