The law that amended the TVDE (remunerated passenger transport in electronically provided vehicles) regime came into force on September 1. DECO considers that, although the legislation has positive aspects, it does not address the main consumer complaints and may put the taxi public service at risk. The association lamented the promulgation of the law by the President of the Republic and called for his veto.
Among the positive measures of the new law, DECO highlights the existence of a validity limit for Electronic Platform Operator licenses, the mandatory registration of vehicles with the IMT, the prohibition of operators carrying out driver certification activities, and the increase in the amount of fines, whose maximum was previously 15,000 euros.
However, the law does not solve the problems that generate the most consumer complaints, namely the cancellation of service by drivers after long waiting periods and the failure to send invoices when charging improper amounts.
DECO alerted to these and other issues and presented solutions that were not taken into account, missing the opportunity to protect the consumer in a position of inequality.
