Presidential candidate Bolsonaro's son came to the defense of Justice Minister André Mendonça after the revelation that he met with Daniel Vorcaro, founder of Banco Master, before taking on the rapporteurship of investigations into the financial institution at the Supreme Federal Court. During a campaign stop in Rio Grande do Sul, Bolsonaro's son classified any attempt to compare Mendonça's situation to that of Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes as a "smoke screen."
Mendonça admitted on Wednesday that he met with Vorcaro in March 2025, almost a year before taking on the rapporteurship of the case. According to the minister himself, the meeting addressed a specific matter and was properly registered in his official schedule.
Bolsonaro's son argued that the meeting does not call Mendonça's conduct into question, stating that he was not the rapporteur of the case at that time. The senator argued that the meeting was something totally professional and completely different from what, according to him, Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes would have done.
