The Portuguese Fertility Association (APF) is requesting guarantees about the future of a fertility clinic that finds itself in an undefined situation. The association expresses concern about embryos and gametes that remain stored at the clinic, without patients having received information about the fate of these biological materials.
Fertility treatments have been suspended at the clinic in question, leaving many patients without access to the procedures they were undergoing. This sudden interruption has generated anxiety and uncertainty among users who depended on these services to fulfill their parenting projects.
Given this situation, the APF directed an urgent appeal to the Ministry of Health and the National Council for Medically Assisted Procreation (CNPMA), demanding that they take immediate measures to guarantee the protection of patients' rights and the safety of stored biological materials. The association argues that swift intervention is necessary to clarify the state of the situation and ensure that embryos and gametes are preserved under adequate conditions.
