The food basket in Portugal registered an increase of more than two euros in a single week, according to data from the period between August 26 and September 2. This growth represents a significant acceleration in the upward trend of essential product values.
The products that contributed most to this rise were spiral pasta, with a 22% increase, followed by spaghetti with 21% and sliced bread with 14%. These three items led the price increases in the period under analysis.
The total value of the basket comprising 63 essential products settled at €254.73, reflecting the cumulative impact of these price updates on basic food products.
The upward trend observed this week contrasts with the previous period and suggests continued pressure on the cost of essential food goods for consumers.
