The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) accused the Government of attacking Public Social Security. Communist leader Fernanda Mateus stated that the structural reform of the public pension system is underway.
According to the PCP leader, this reform is not only an initiative of the Portuguese executive, but also involves the intervention of the European Commission in the process.
Fernanda Mateus made these statements in the context of a debate on the future of pensions in Portugal, warning of the dangers that this restructuring represents for the public Social Security system.
The PCP's position comes as a critique of the measures being implemented or planned at the level of pension reform, which the party considers to be harmful to Portuguese workers and pensioners.
