US President Donald Trump suggested on Wednesday renaming the Strait of Hormuz as the "Trump Strait," just days after signing an executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario, located on the Canadian border, to "Lake America." The suggestion was made on the Truth Social social network, where Trump wrote that, now that the situation is under control, renaming the strait should be considered.
The Republican had signed the previous week an executive decree to rename Lake Ontario as "Lake America," intensifying his dispute with Canada. At the time, Trump emphasized that the change to "Lake America" was something he had been thinking about for a long time.
Trump also recalled that he had already renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America" and commented humorously that, having already renamed a gulf and a lake, he could also change the name of the Atlantic and/or Pacific. "Maybe we will change them," he wrote.
The occupant of the White House provoked the Iranian regime by suggesting that he controls the strategic navigable waterway at Hormuz, at a time when Washington and Tehran exchanged new bombardments between Tuesday night and Wednesday.
