Tiger Woods pleads guilty to dangerous driving and has license suspended for five years

Record2 September 2026 at 17:55

Golfer Tiger Woods pleaded guilty to dangerous driving in a Florida court. The athlete appeared before Judge Darren Steele, who warned him that if caught driving again during the license suspension period, he will return to prison immediately.

Woods's driver's license was suspended for five years as part of the agreement with the justice system. The incident occurred when the golfer was found sitting in the driver's seat of a stopped vehicle on a road, with the engine running, but with his eyes closed and no immediate response.

Woods, who had already undergone surgery on a leg after a serious car accident in 2021, does not face actual prison time in this case. Judge Steele, however, left a clear warning: any violation of the suspension conditions will result in immediate imprisonment.

This new incident comes at a difficult time for the 48-year-old athlete's career, as he has been struggling to recover his physical fitness and competitiveness on the professional golf circuit.
