EU foreign ministers met informally in Ireland to discuss the European response to the war in Ukraine.

During this meeting, ministers reached a "consensual understanding" on imposing sanctions on Russian individuals and companies.

The twenty-second EU sanctions package against Russia is expected in October.

The sanctions aim to pressure Moscow to end the aggression against Ukraine.
