The Employment and Social Affairs Committee of the European Parliament today advocated for the creation of a new European law to combat stress and harassment at work. The MEPs on this committee consider that current legislation is insufficient to protect European Union workers from these problems.
The initiative comes in a context of growing concern about the mental health and wellbeing of European workers. Stress and harassment at work have been identified as significant problems affecting millions of workers across all Member States.
The proposed law aims to establish minimum protection standards throughout the European Union, ensuring that all workers have the right to a safe and healthy work environment. The MEPs argue that a European directive would be more effective than fragmented national legislation.
