The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) suspended on Wednesday (2) the manufacturing of cleaning products at the Unilever unit in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo. The suspension occurred after an inspection that identified failures in compliance with good manufacturing practices standards at the unit. The measure was published on the same day and applies only to manufacturing, not including the recall of products that are already on the market.
The inspection was carried out between August 24 and 28, in conjunction with the São Paulo State Health Surveillance Center and the Vinhedo Municipal Health Surveillance Department. The agency reported that it found irregularities related to the requirements for the manufacturing of sanitizing products, but did not detail which specific problems were identified during the inspection.
Unilever stated in a note that the inspection pointed to the need for adjustments in documentation and quality control processes, but did not provide further details about the corrections that will be made to reverse the suspension.
