Ukraine alerted the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) that Russian airspace is not safe. This decision comes in a context of heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president had already made a public warning on Tuesday, stating that "the days of safety in the Russian sky are over." This statement indicates an escalation in rhetoric between the two countries.

The alert to ICAO likely aims to inform the international community about the risks associated with air traffic in the region and possibly request additional security measures for civil aviation.
