PCP accused the Government today of having underway an attack on public Social Security, counting on the support of the Liberal Initiative for this. The communist party considered that these political forces intend to advance with an individual capitalization model, which would be added on top of Portugal's existing public social security system.
According to PCP's position, this strategy represents a direct threat to the rights of workers and pensioners, as well as an attempt to destroy the public Social Security system that currently exists in the country.
The party led by Paulo Raimundo will have warned of the negative consequences that this change could bring, particularly for the most vulnerable sectors of the Portuguese population who depend on this public social protection system.
