Portugal is among the European countries with the highest proportion of high-performance companies

SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 15:20

Portugal is among the European markets with the highest concentration of companies that create value sustainably for shareholders, known as SVCs. This position places the country alongside Denmark and Turkey as top markets in this indicator.

The ranking comes from the study "Sustained Value Creation: The Test of the Best", developed by the consulting firm Bain & Company. The research analyzed the proportion of high-performance companies in the different European markets.

Companies classified as SVCs are those that manage to generate value in a consistent and sustainable manner for their shareholders over time, distinguishing themselves from companies with inferior or volatile performance.

The Bain & Company study thus allows for comparing the quality of the business fabric in the various European countries, highlighting that Portugal stands out positively in the proportion of companies with the capacity for sustained value creation.
