Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and Minister of Agriculture and Sea, José Manuel Fernandes, will participate in the official opening ceremony of Vindouro – Wine & History | Pombaline Festival, on September 4, in São João da Pesqueira. The event, running until September 6, is organized by the municipality and celebrates wine, gastronomy, history and the heritage of the Douro, the region that contains the world's oldest demarcated and regulated wine-producing area.

The event features a Wine Hall in Praça do Marquês, bringing together hundreds of producers from the Douro and Porto, and for the first time includes an area dedicated to the region's sparkling wines. The program includes the 7th Wine Competition "Douro em Prova", Wine Talks with winemaker Raquel Sousa, showcooking sessions and the traditional Generous Wines Auction.

The historical dimension is one of the event's hallmarks, with recreations of the 18th-century Pombaline period, the Period Market, fire and juggling shows and the Pombaline Parade. The Pombaline Dinner will be signed by chef Marlene Vieira, distinguished with a Michelin Star. Music will be provided by Rui Veloso, Carolina Deslandes and Richie Campbell, with evening entertainment by guest DJs.

Vindouro was recently awarded the "National Event of the Year" prize by the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities, reinforcing its position as one of the main wine and cultural events in Portugal. The event also features the Economic Activities Fair, dedicated to promoting local and regional businesses and economic agents.
