President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and First Lady Janja da Silva received actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio at the Palace on Wednesday. The meeting was scheduled for 12:30 PM and also included representatives from Re:wild, an organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation of which DiCaprio is a founding board member.
DiCaprio maintains an ongoing commitment to environmental advocacy, focusing on topics such as climate change, species preservation, and protection of indigenous peoples and local communities. The Re:wild organization works in partnership with governments, non-governmental entities, and local leaders on ecosystem protection and restoration projects.
In Brazil, Re:wild supports initiatives related to the preservation of the Amazon and other Brazilian biomes. Before the meeting with DiCaprio, Lula and Janja participated at 11 AM in the ceremony to sign into law the bill that establishes care protocols for cardiovascular emergencies in the Unified Health System.
