The Terreiro of Vila Nova de Cerveira hosts on Saturday, September 5th, at 9:30 PM, another edition of the Traditional Minhota Corn Husking, an initiative that recovers and promotes practices, knowledge, and customs associated with the corn cycle, as an expression of the cultural and ethnographic heritage of the municipality.
The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira, in partnership with the Festivities Committee of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda, and aims to provide a faithful recreation of the atmosphere experienced in the old community corn huskings, moments of work and socializing that marked the agricultural calendar of the rural communities of Minho.
Through this recreation, the Terreiro transforms into a traditional community threshing floor, with the presence of the characteristic ox carts loaded with corn and the participation of the public in the husking process.
The initiative also features the participation of folklore groups and bass drum groups from the municipality, joined by the traditional challenge songs and popular dances.
