Ursula von der Leyen said that Europe must prepare for "a new era of European security" after a drone attack attributed to Russia. She stated that incidents with Russian drones in Europe represent what she called the "new normal".
Mark Rutte, for his part, considered that NATO needs capabilities to face these threats coming from drones. The statements come in the context of growing concerns about European security in the face of Russian military activities.
The president of the European Commission highlighted the need to adapt European defense strategies in light of this new threat scenario.
