In Vila do Conde, an alert is circulating about scam attempts using the name of the priest of the Parish of Vila Chã. One of the parishioners was the one who raised the alert about the fraudulent situation.
The scheme consists of sending private messages in the name of the parish priest, in which the fraudster pretends to be the priest and asks the faithful for money. This is a case of identity theft fraud.
Local authorities have warned the community to be vigilant about this type of message and not to provide personal data or money through unofficial channels. The legitimate priest would not be involved in these requests.
