Portuguese families significantly reinforced their savings in July, having invested 13.7 billion euros in new deposits. This value represents a substantial increase compared to previous months, demonstrating a trend of greater savings accumulation by families.
The average rate on new deposits rose for the sixth consecutive month, reaching 1.59%. This continuous increase reflects the market trend towards offering better remuneration conditions for savings to depositors.
However, despite this improvement, the average rate in Portugal continues below the euro area average. This difference suggests that Portuguese deposits still offer less favorable conditions compared to other euro zone countries.
