The first Quaest poll on the presidential race after the candidates' interviews on TV Globo was released on Wednesday. The survey was commissioned by TV Globo and the newspaper O GLOBO.
Candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leads among blacks, women, and lower-income voters. Among browns, Lula appears with 30% of first-round voting intentions, compared to 17% for Jair Bolsonaro. Among blacks, the PT candidate has 32%, compared to 14% for his opponent.
Among whites, there is a technical tie: Lula has 24% and Bolsonaro has 26%. The current president also leads among the poorest, with 35% preference among voters who earn up to two minimum wages. In the two to five minimum wages bracket, Lula maintains an advantage with 27%, compared to 21% for the Bolsonaro supporter.
Lula's main opponent, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), appears ahead among evangelicals and southern voters. The poll shows that the PL candidate only gains strength among those who earn more, with support growing as the income bracket increases.
