Russia attacked Leipzig airport, Germany concludes. EU response will be "very strong"

Germany concluded that Russia was responsible for a "hybrid attack" with an explosive drone at Leipzig airport, which occurred on August 4. According to the investigation supported by Germany and the European Union, the attack was carried out by Russian intelligence services.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced retaliatory measures in response to the incidents. Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz ordered the closure of Russia's general consulate in Bonn, which is to be closed on September 18.

Additionally, the contract of the "Russian House" in Berlin, a Russian cultural center in the German capital, will be terminated. These measures were taken after holding Moscow responsible for the drone attacks at Leipzig airport.

The European Union stated that its reaction to the attack will be "very strong", demonstrating Europe's joint position in response to Russian action.
