Actor Gracindo Jr. dies in Rio at age 83

The actor and director Gracindo Jr. died on Wednesday morning (2), at age 83, at his home in Rio de Janeiro. The information about the death was confirmed by his son, Pedro Gracindo, to g1. The cause of death has not been disclosed at this time. With more than five decades of artistic trajectory, he built a career that went through theater, television, radio, and cinema.

Born in Rio de Janeiro on May 21, 1943, Epaminondas Xavier Gracindo is the son of the also renowned actor Paulo Gracindo (1911-1995), following in his father's footsteps and becoming one of the names of his generation in Brazilian performing arts.

The artist was among the names who participated in the inauguration of TV Globo, in 1965. "I entered at the beginning of TV Globo. It premieres in April 1965, but in December 1964 I was already hired," he said in an interview to Memória Globo. Throughout his career in television, Gracindo Jr. participated in historic soap operas such as "Rosinha do sobrado" (1965), among other productions.
