Biologist who has been fighting for whale conservation for 30 years will be honored at a film festival in Rio

Liliane Lodi will be honored at the 15th edition of Filmambiente, an environmental film festival that begins on September 23 in Rio de Janeiro. Pioneer in humpback whale and other cetacean conservation in Brazil, she has accumulated over 30 years of dedication to the cause, uniting science, education, and social engagement in her work.

Liliane Lodi coordinates projects such as "Whales & Dolphins of Rio de Janeiro" and "Islands of Rio," contributing significantly to research and protection of marine mammals in the country. Her trajectory is recognized as fundamental for the advancement of cetacean conservation in Brazil.

The Filmambiente, considered the most important environmental film festival in Latin America, runs until October 2 and will screen 61 films unreleased in Brazil. The programming takes place at Estação Claro Botafogo, with free admission, as well as venues such as Biblioteca Parque Centro, MAM, Cine Arte UFF, and INES.

The theme of this edition of the festival is "Actions and Consequences," placing at the center of debates issues such as sustainability, climate justice, and social justice.
