Two of the victims of the flash floods that hit the Grand Canyon in the United States on Saturday (29) were identified as Brent Rosenkranz, 42, and John Giusti, 46. The two were friends, had ties to the town of Granbury, Texas, and were traveling with a third man, Timothy Smith, 53, who remains missing.
Around 2:30 PM on Saturday, a powerful flash flood hit areas of the park near the Colorado River, sweeping hikers and backpackers. According to the operation commander, Dave Black, teams used equipment such as night vision goggles during the rescues.
A total of 45 people were removed from the area on Saturday and another 37 on Sunday.
