Inês Carvalho achieved the title of vice-world champion of Modern Pentathlon in the Under-15 category, presenting high-level performances in the three disciplines of the competition. In obstacles she finished in 24th position with a time of 38.74 seconds, setting a new personal record. In swimming she achieved 5th place with a time of 1:02.96. In the Laser-run, the discipline that combines running and shooting, she won an excellent 2nd place with 6:56.11, also a new personal record.
The Portuguese athlete scored 1156 points throughout the competition, the same score achieved by the neutral athlete Alisa Kvashneuskaya, who completed the podium in third place. The world title was won by Hungarian Nora Kosa, current European champion, who finished the competition with 1184 points.
This achievement adds to the victories obtained in the European Cups of Rio Maior and Barcelona, consolidating a season of great distinction for the Portuguese athlete. The result represents an important milestone in the sports career of Inês Carvalho.
The athlete now turns her attention to the next major goal of the season: the Under-15 Modern Pentathlon European Championship, which will take place on September 11 in Caldas da Rainha, where she will seek to continue the excellent results achieved throughout the season.
