The Portuguese Government announced the extension of public support for youth housing credit, in a measure classified as being of "manifest interest" for the national economy. This decision aims to facilitate young people's access to the real estate market, in a context of growing difficulties for this age group.
The public guarantee for youth housing credit was raised to 2.350 billion euros. This value represents a significant reinforcement of the support instruments available to young people who wish to purchase their first home.
Among the entities that requested reinforcements to the program are Novo Banco and Banco Montepio. These institutions expressed the need for greater guarantee capacity to continue offering favorable conditions to young borrowers.
The measure is part of a broader strategy by the Executive to boost the real estate sector and support young people's housing emancipation, considering the positive impact this can have on the national economy.
