The influencer Kerolay Chaves, 25 years old and current Miss Bumbum Brasil, stated she lost approximately R$ 2 million after investing in a financial opportunity presented by someone from her close circle. She published a video on social media reporting the case and stated she believes she was a victim of a financial pyramid scheme.
According to the content creator, the person responsible for the proposal promised returns that ranged between 10%, 13%, and up to 18%, in addition to claiming he participated in meetings with investors in São Paulo and maintained contacts in the financial market. Kerolay decided to invest the money mainly because of the trust relationship she had with the man who presented the business.
The young woman acknowledged having been "very innocent" in trusting the investment promise without properly verifying the legitimacy of the offer. Given the million-dollar loss, she stated she intends to seek legal action to try to recover the lost values.
