Fado returns to the Old Lota in Portimão starting September 5th at 7pm, with the opening of an exhibition titled "What is Fado…", accompanied by musical moments. The exhibition is curated by Pedro Félix, who was part of the team responsible for Fado's candidacy to UNESCO, and is the result of a partnership with the Museu do Fado. The exhibition celebrates the 15 years of Fado's inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and proposes a journey through the history, sounds and protagonists of this art form, with particular emphasis on the memories, spaces and performers associated with Fado in Portimão.
The opening program features fadistas Rita Raimundo and Inês Marques, accompanied by Vítor do Carmo on the Portuguese guitar and António Correia on the fado viola. José Paulo Costa, a collector and consultant who has been connected to the "Há Fado na Lota" project since its inception, lent guitars from his collection for the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until October 16th. From September 5th to 15th, it is open daily from 5pm to 11pm; from September 16th to October 16th, hours are from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm.
The concert series "Há Fado na Lota" includes performances by Rafael Pacheco & Guests (September 5th), Custódio Castelo and Ana Paula Martins (September 12th), Teresa Viola and Pedro Viola (September 19th), Ana Marques and João Leote (September 26th), Adriana Marques and Hélder Coelho (October 3rd), and closes with Luana Velasques and Cecílio Santos on October 10th.
