The forest fire that broke out in the afternoon of August 20 in Segorbe was declared extinguished this Tuesday at 9:00 AM by the Provincial Fire Consortium of Castellón. The fire, which had been under control since last Tuesday, August 25, consumed a total of 630 hectares of vegetation.
The fire forced the evacuation of the population of Gátova, in the municipality of Valencia, during the period when the flames threatened the inhabited area. Local authorities coordinated the evacuation operations to guarantee the safety of the residents.
The fire had been under control since last Tuesday, which allowed firefighters to work on its total extinction over the following days until officially declaring it extinguished this week.
