The United States secured access to approximately one fifth of Venezuela's oil reserves through an agreement with a validity of 100 years. This agreement represents a significant milestone in the energy relations between the two countries.
The American company North American Blue Energy Partners will be responsible for exploring the oil fields covered by the agreement. The company will be able to operate in 17 fields that contain a total estimated 65 billion barrels of oil.
Through this agreement, Washington considerably reinforces its influence in the Venezuelan energy sector. This strategic partnership positions the USA in a privileged position in accessing the oil resources of the South American country.
The 100-year agreement demonstrates the long-term commitment of the United States to guarantee stability in energy supply, while consolidating the American presence in Venezuela's oil industry.
