"Luís Neves case calls into question PM and President"

Observador2 September 2026 at 10:11

The Luís Neves case is generating strong political reactions. The minister made statements yesterday that, according to Rui Rocha, from Iniciativa Liberal, call into question democratic institutions.

Vanessa Barata, from Chega, criticized the executive, accusing it of being responsible for the prolongation of the crisis. The party representative believes the government should have acted more swiftly to resolve the situation.

Paulo Muacho, from the Livre party, countered that there is an interest in tarnishing the image of the Judicial Police in this process. The politician suggests there are hidden motives behind the criticism aimed at the PJ.

The case directly involves the prime minister and the President of the Republic, whose credibility is being questioned by part of the political class. Reactions are divided between those who point the finger at government responsibilities and those who see attempts to instrumentalize the security forces.
