INEM wants to end nighttime helicopter rescue

The National Institute of Emergency Medicine is considering ceasing helicopter transport of patients during the night and limiting air asset activity to 12-hour shifts per day or less. This possibility is being considered by INEM as part of a reassessment of its resources.

The president of the institute, Luís Cabral, justified this possibility stating that "a lot of money is being spent for reduced nighttime activity." This statement indicates that the costs associated with nighttime helicopter transport do not correspond to the volume of operations carried out during that period.

The measure could significantly affect emergency rescue in Portugal, especially in remote areas where air transport is essential for the rapid rescue of victims in serious condition.

"Fruit Heroes" Opens Registrations for the New School Year in the Algarve
