Traffic flows without major constraints on the Via Rápida

dnoticias.pt2 September 2026 at 08:31

Traffic circulates with relative normality on the Via Rápida on this Wednesday morning, September 2nd, without major constraints recorded. The images captured shortly after 8:15 AM show fluidity in circulation from the Caniço ascent, following through Cancela and Pinheiro Grande.

Although the flow is generally tranquil, there is greater concentration of vehicles at some of the accesses to Funchal. However, there are no signs of significant congestion on the main road.

The situation contrasts with periods of higher traffic, when the Via Rápida frequently presents considerable delays for drivers heading to the city.

AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY RETURNS TO BE AT THE CENTER OF RURAL FIRE ALERTS IN MIRANDELA

A rural fire broke out yesterday near Abreiro, in Mirandela, due to the use of agricultural machinery, and the Voluntary Firefighters of Mirandela managed to extinguish the flames before they spread. The case serves as a warning for the risks associated with agricultural work during periods of high fire danger, since a simple spark from metallic equipment in contact with stones or dry vegetation can trigger a fire. Civil protection authorities recommend that farmers check the fire risk beforehand, avoid using machinery likely to produce sparks in areas with dry grass, and keep first response means easily accessible.
