A 34-year-old British woman died after being stabbed at a hotel in Albufeira, a tourist destination in southern Portugal, on Tuesday. The main suspect in the crime is the victim's partner, also British and 34 years old, who was detained by Portuguese authorities.
The alert about the assault was registered at approximately 6:42 PM, local time. Emergency teams and Republican National Guard agents were sent to the hotel, but the woman could not be saved from her injuries. The attack occurred in a circulation area, in the corridor of the establishment.
The man identified as the suspect was detained and remains in custody. The Judicial Police took over the investigation, which is expected to clarify the circumstances of the attack and the dynamics of the crime.
According to the newspaper O Vilaverdense, the couple was accompanied by a minor child when the assault occurred.
