The voting on the Provisional Measure of the "blusinhas tax" was postponed on Tuesday (1st), marking the fourth postponement of the process. There was an expectation that the opinion would be voted on during the afternoon, but the rapporteur, Senator Leila Barros, was unable to present the report in time.
The postponement occurred after a meeting between Leila Barros, the committee chairman, Deputy Reginaldo Lopes, the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, and the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta. According to people close to the rapporteur, the idea is that she will present the report still on Tuesday evening.
The government base does not intend to bear the burden of the loss of validity of the MP, which can continue until September 8. Therefore, with or without an agreement, there is an expectation that the vote will take place still this evening.
Despite the postponements, the prospect of approval continues. The negotiation will continue mainly with productive sectors, which request compensation for maintaining the 20% import tax exemption for purchases of up to US$ 50.
