A group of about twenty neighbors from Castelló submitted a written complaint to the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Castellón and the Síndic de Greuges asking for "protection" against the intention of the Castelló City Council to eliminate the acoustically saturated zone (ZAS) of the tascas and their surroundings. The neighbors want the ZAS to be maintained to protect the quality of life of the residents in the area.
The controversy arises because the municipal council intends to eliminate the ZAS to convert the area into a space of gastronomic tradition. This decision would directly affect the residents who live near the tascas, traditional establishments that characterize the area.
The neighbors complain that the elimination of the ZAS would mean an increase in noise pollution in their residential area. By submitting a complaint to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Síndic de Greuges, they intend for the authorities to intervene to stop the city council's plans.
