The Portuguese Environment Agency lifted on September 1 the bathing ban on the beaches of the municipality of Espinho. The decision was made after APA confirmed that all beaches in the area now present water quality classified as "adequate" for swimming.
The ban had been imposed on August 27 due to microbiological contamination detected in the waters. The beaches affected by the prohibition included Rua 37, Frente Azul Sul, Frente Azul Centro and Seca, also covering several associated bathing areas, such as Marbelo, Pop Norte and Marbelo Pop Sul.
Information about water quality and the lifting of the ban can be found on the official APA website, where data on the conditions of Portuguese beaches is regularly published.
