Starting Wednesday, the 16th, Linha Amarela, an expressway in Rio de Janeiro, will begin electronically monitoring vehicles that use automatic toll lanes without a valid and active tag. The cameras installed at the toll plaza will operate 24 hours a day to register drivers who do not meet the requirements for automatic payment.
Electronic monitoring may also identify other irregularities that prevent automatic toll payment. The recorded images and information will be forwarded to the agencies responsible for analyzing and processing violations.
Lamsa, the concessionaire responsible for managing Linha Amarela, stated that it is not responsible for monitoring or issuing fines. Automatic lanes are exclusively for vehicles equipped with valid tags.
