The Brazilian Bar Association expressed on Tuesday (1st) its monitoring with "attention and extreme concern" in light of the news about the crisis affecting the Supreme Federal Court and other institutions of the Republic. The OAB's statement comes after the disclosure of messages involving former banker Daniel Vorcaro, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, and the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet.
The messages were revealed from an investigation carried out by the Federal Police, which is part of the inquiries related to the Banco Master case. The entity defended a rigorous and impartial investigation of the facts, regardless of who is involved.
The OAB also highlighted the need to guarantee the constitutional principles of due process, full defense, and presumption of innocence. According to the Order, respect for these guarantees is fundamental to ensuring the legitimacy of the investigations.
The entity expressed concern about the impacts of the crisis for the country, mainly due to involving institutions considered essential for the functioning of Brazilian democracy.
