The fire that broke out in the municipality of Arouca destroyed a total of 1,454 hectares over four days. The active flames between August 17 and 20 consumed a significant area of vegetation in the region.
The fire affected a vast extent of terrain, causing considerable environmental impacts. Local authorities worked to combat the flames throughout the entire period that the fire remained active.
The region of Arouca, located in the district of Aveiro, was severely affected by this fire. After four days of continuous combat, authorities finally managed to bring the flames under control on August 20.
