Portuguese farmers expressed criticism regarding the financial support announced by the Government, considering that the announced amounts are insufficient to cope with the difficulties they face. The agricultural sector confederation considers that the millions promised by the Executive fall short of the real needs of small and medium-sized farmers.
The agricultural sector has been facing numerous challenges, including rising production costs and adverse weather conditions. Farmers point out that the announced support is not sufficient to mitigate these structural difficulties.
One of the main complaints relates to delays in the payment of subsidies due to farmers. The confederation considers that the slowness in the transfer of funds further aggravates the financial situation of producers, especially the smaller ones.
The sector's representatives reaffirm the need for more concrete and swift measures to support agricultural activity, defending that small and medium-sized farmers deserve more adequate and timely responses to their difficulties.
