The PSP agent Bruno Pinto, who killed Odair Moniz on Faro beach in 2020, saw his trial result in an acquittal. The agent's defense has now requested acquittal in the appeal filed, arguing in favor of his innocence in the case.
Bruno Pinto was reinstated in the PSP and is currently performing administrative duties at the District Command of Setúbal, after initially being removed from his duties.
Odair Moniz's family, on the other hand, appealed the acquittal sentence and demands that the agent be suspended from duties for a period of no less than five years, requesting a more severe penalty for the defendant.
The case dates back to 2020, when Bruno Pinto shot Odair Moniz on Faro beach, resulting in his death. The Public Prosecutor's Office had requested an effective prison sentence for the PSP agent.
