Explainer. Montenegro tries to make peace with Education

Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced measures for the Education sector, including salary increases for those in leadership positions or the creation of a new university in Bragança. These measures come at a time when the government seeks to improve its relationship with the education sector.

Reactions from the Education sector were positive regarding these announcements. Professionals and institutions in the sector welcomed the proposals presented by the prime minister.

However, the opposition did not react in the same way. Opposition parties expressed less positivity towards the measures announced by Montenegro, showing criticism or reservations regarding the government's proposals for Education.

These measures come in the context of Montenegro attempting to "make peace" with the Education sector, in an effort by the government to bring positions closer together and respond to some of the demands of professionals in the field.
