The Cavalry Regiment No. 3 (RC3) will celebrate its 319th anniversary on 4 and 5 September 2026 with a set of initiatives that include the traditional Horse Ride from Elvas to Estremoz. The festivities also coincide with the centenary of Estremoz's elevation to city status, giving particular significance to the celebrations.
The march will begin on the morning of 4 September, with participants departing from the Military Museum of Elvas at 08:00. The route will head towards Estremoz, passing through Terrugem at 12:00, then continuing to Vila Viçosa, where arrival is expected around 18:00 and a stop is planned next to the City Hall.
The following day, 5 September, the march will resume with departure from Vila Viçosa at 08:30, continuing through the municipalities of Borba and Estremoz, with arrival at the Cavalry Regiment No. 3 expected at 12:00.
The initiative aims to recover a historical connection between Elvas and Estremoz, reinforce the Regiment's proximity to the populations of the traversed municipalities and enhance the heritage, traditions and identity of the Alentejo territories.
